Your Right to Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data from HobbyVerse. This page explains how to exercise this right and what happens when you delete your data.
How to Delete Your Account and Data
Method 1: Through Your Account Settings (Recommended)
- Log in to your HobbyVerse account
- Go to Settings → Account
- Scroll down to the "Delete Account" section
- Click "Delete My Account"
- Confirm your decision by typing "DELETE" in the confirmation box
- Click "Permanently Delete Account"
Method 2: Contact Us Directly
If you cannot access your account or prefer to contact us directly:
- Email us at privacy@howtohobby.com
- Include "Data Deletion Request" in the subject line
- Provide your account email address or username
- Specify what data you want deleted (account only, or all associated data)
What Data Will Be Deleted
Account Information
- Profile information (name, username, bio, avatar)
- Account settings and preferences
- Login credentials and authentication data
- Contact information (email, phone if provided)
Content and Activity
- All posts, comments, and shared content
- Hobby tracking data and progress logs
- Photos and videos you've uploaded
- Messages and communications
- Bookmarks and saved content
- Activity history and usage data
Social Connections
- Friends and connections
- Group memberships
- Following/follower relationships
- Social interactions and engagement data
What Happens After Deletion
Immediate Effects
- Your account will be deactivated immediately
- You will be logged out of all devices
- Your profile will no longer be visible to other users
- Your content will be removed from public view
Data Processing Timeline
- 0-24 hours: Account deactivation and immediate data removal
- 1-7 days: Complete data deletion from active systems
- 7-30 days: Data removal from backup systems
- 30-90 days: Complete purging from all systems
Data That May Be Retained
Some data may be retained for legal or operational reasons:
- Transaction records (for accounting and tax purposes)
- Legal compliance data (if required by law)
- Anonymized analytics data (cannot be linked to you)
- Security logs (for fraud prevention)
Third-Party Data
Social Media Logins
If you signed up using Facebook, Google, Apple, or Twitter:
- We will delete your HobbyVerse account and data
- Your social media account will remain unchanged
- You may need to revoke app permissions in your social media settings
- We will not have access to your social media data after deletion
Revoking Third-Party Permissions
To completely remove HobbyVerse access:
- Facebook: Go to Settings → Apps and Websites → Remove HobbyVerse
- Google: Go to myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party apps → Remove HobbyVerse
- Apple: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple ID → Sign-In with Apple → Remove HobbyVerse
- Twitter: Go to Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions → Remove HobbyVerse
Data Export Before Deletion
Requesting Your Data
Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data:
- Go to Settings → Privacy
- Click "Download My Data"
- We'll prepare your data and email you a download link
- Data will be available for 30 days
What's Included in Data Export
- Profile information and settings
- All your posts and content
- Hobby tracking data and progress
- Messages and communications
- Account activity logs
- Preferences and customizations
Recovery and Reversal
Can I Recover My Account?
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Once your data is deleted:
- You cannot recover your account or data
- You would need to create a new account from scratch
- All your previous content and connections will be lost
- Your username may become available for others to use
Account Deactivation vs. Deletion
If you're unsure about permanent deletion, consider:
- Account Deactivation: Temporarily disable your account (data preserved)
- Account Deletion: Permanently remove your account and all data
- You can reactivate a deactivated account by logging in
- Deactivated accounts are not visible to other users
Legal Rights and Compliance
GDPR Rights (EU Users)
If you're in the European Union, you have additional rights:
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
- Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we use your data

CCPA Rights (California Users)
If you're in California, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect
- Delete your personal information

Important Warning
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Please ensure you have backed up any important data before proceeding. Once deleted, your account, content, and all associated data cannot be recovered.
